About Milton Beach

Milton Beach is another of the Sea Point Beaches located along the popular Sea Point Promenade. This one is found between Graaf’s Pool and Broken Bath Beach. On the map that is between Worcester Road and Milton Road, which intersect with Beach Road. Access to the beach is via the Promenade where there is a ramp providing wheelchair access.

There isn’t, in my opinion a lot to write about, Milton Beach. It’s main attraction or draw card being the tidal pool which provides for safe swimming. The entire length of the beach is cut off from the Ocean by a ‘rock shelf’ and that makes access to the open water difficult and dangerous. If you want to swim, the Tidal Pool is your best bet. On occasion you can get to the Ocean over the rocks, but it’s not recommended unless you are a great swimmer or possibly if you’re equipped to snorkel or scuba dive.

The sandy beach is relatively narrow and more often than not strewn with kelp that has been washed up from the offshore kelp beds. If you have younger kids, then the combination of the Tidal Pool and the Rock Pool Exploration can make this a fun beach to visit.

As this beach runs alongside the Sea Point Promenade and is completely exposed, sunbathing isn’t very popular. That said, one of the Promenade’s Ablution Facilities is located at the access point to the beach and adjacent to that is a kiddies play park, so again, there is plenty of free things to do for families with kids and nearby toilet facilities.

Parking can be challenging, especially in season and on summer weekends as you are limited to what you can find along Beach Road and the adjoining side roads. Be warned that the traffic authorities are very active in this area and parking offences will result in fines or your vehicle being impounded.
